We take certain steps to prevent fake accounts, scammers, and bots:


  1. Blocking accounts from being created:
    1. Check for proof of life: We request a selfie from the user to ensure the person is ‘live’ and taking the picture in real-time.
    2. Facematch: Using detection technology, we analysis each profile photo for human attributes and prevent non-facial profiles, stopping them from getting onto Milyo in the first place.
    3. Photo comparison: We compare the selfie with the user-submitted photo to ensure only a genuine user is getting onboarded.
  2. Email verification: Email authentication reduces the risk of fake profiles.
  3. Block high-risk countries: Countries known for having high risks of fraudulent activities are blocked from receiving SMS.
  4. Block bad activities: We prevent usage if VPN to prevent users spoofing their location.
  5. Removing accounts when they sign-up: Our advanced detection systems also look for potential fake accounts as soon as they sign-up, by spotting signs of malicious behavior based on location.
  6. Removing accounts already on Milyo: Some accounts may get past the above defenses and still make it onto the platform. All profiles are manually reviewed by our moderation team and are removed if they fail against our Terms of Service before being banned for repeated offenses.
